Robins little nest! Not your average bird
up late one night looking for carpets...I'm kinda odd in the things I collect. I adore coats, hats, carpets, aprons..... yep odd!
I was looking for area rugs that were eco friendly... I saw the picture in the listing for this carpet
pretty huh? It's hard to tell from a picture what a rug will really look like and feel like, but you can tell this is thick. I am into primitive, shabby chic, cottage type stuff! This carpet was perfect color wise. and wasn't perfect fancy shmancy looking (like our comfy cozy home) I contacted robin, who, I have to say is about the sweetest most accommodating seller EVER! we set up the listing and I waited....waited.....waited... but not long.
In about a week or so it came and like a kid at Christmas I wasted no time in ripping the box apart to find the softest most luscious carpet.....I had contacted Robin about it not laying flat, she offered a few tips and it worked.
This carpet love to be thrown in the washer and dryer, giver a good yank in all directions and used. it's been in the bathroom where it DRINKS water off the kids after the bath, now it lives in our master bedroom at the foot of the bed...it has a special home under our dog. Because it's so think (LITERALLY over an inch think) and cozy and lush, Co-jack has deemed it worthy of comforting his old arthritic bones.
I came home the other day and Co-jack cam down the hall and stretched in the odd way big dogs do...I walked into the bedroom and felt the carpet and it was so warm I know he was there for hours.
Although never intended to be a dog mat.....it's a beautiful carpet after all....we kind of think in our house if it's good enough for the dog it MUST be ok for us too
Please visit robins store right here she sells all kinds of cute stuff and amazing pictures. She was amazing to deal with and honestly concerned when I had a few issues with the carpet. She is honestly simply happy to know someone will enjoy her stuff and give it a good home. It's obvious she's passionate about what she does....and you can tell!

I am very careful to watch what I say or write when it comes to reviewing or feedback. I, also an online merchant with 2 stores know this can make or break you.....I have had not so great experiences but this I had to post.
I got a heartsy voucher from bodyluxe I waited over a month to use it as I find sometimes that's better with the bath and body stuff..After all the rave reviews and the bragging about being in the emmy swag bag I though how could I lose. This is EASILY the most obvious case of sellers riding previous accolades EVER!
I ordered 2 healing organic balms, 1 perfume sample and a room spray....
The room spray is glorious I will admit, and I was sent a small sample of bath salts also but alas these items were purchased as a gift for a friends based on the packaging I thought it was a beautiful gift to give.
Needless to say the only thing good were said salts and spray .
the 2 balms came in ugly little white tubs (standard nothing special) not the clear jar with beautiful labels shown in pictures that include the ingredients....one had a simple label with the name, the other no label at all. I had to go thru all my purchases to find out....than the perfume sample isn't labeled either....the kicker is I was charged 8$ shipping and the actual cost was 3.28$. I don't know about other sellers but if I charge you 8$ for shipping and it's 3.28 I refund you 4$....I understand this is heartsy deal and it's kinda hard to do but a credit would have been nice! it;s not even about the 4$ it's the point that I work as hard for my money as anyone else....

I will say when I spoke to the seller before the purchase she seemed to be great to deal with...had I known about the balms I would have ordered something else as these were gifts. To not even have the ingredients listed or a card included with it is not a good idea. I often don't have ingredients listed on my label but I always jot them down on a note card or paper and include it as people do have allergies. name labels are nice to simply so I can know what it is I ordered without having to go all thru my list of purchases.
I will say it all smells good, but please if your going to charge PREMIUM prices please do a PREMIUM job!
i'm sorry if this all seems harsh, I guess i'm growing tired of some sellers coasting thru while doing the minimal amount of effort needed while me and many sellers I know busting our butts to make sales with far better presentation, and effort put forth!
It feels bad to write something not nice about a company who likely did'nt see the problem in the first place....but it also feels pretty crappy to be on the receiving end of something I ordered that turned out to be not what I thought!

MAIL CALL Bubbles and bugs!
bubbles and bugs is this sweet shop owner that seems to be able to find any fabric and make the cutest necktie tops. Some have suspenders...mine never do. I first came across her when looking for construction stuff for the boy... I got an amazing brown top with a dump truck tie.....
Well The boy is sooooooo into green eggs and ham....I figured i'd never find a thing. I spent hours searching etsy, ebay and so on...so I dropped bubbles and bugs a line and asked if she could help....within literally minutes she sent me back a sample...IT WAS PERFECT. With bubbles and bugs you can get a tshirt or long sleeve in an insane amount of colors...So I picked BRIGHT ORANGE (i think it looks great with blue jeans)
Well today it arrived.... I don't have a picture but I will tonight....It's unreal this is the necktie piece she cut for the top on a white top
There is no doubt in the world I will use this seller again. Infact I am thinking of doing shirts for all the kids in our family, as she has alomost everything kids love! I would reccomend this seller to ANYBODY and she can be found HERE thanks Jaymee for everything!!!

We will also be adding our new scent for the weekend and have remade our UNDYED nag champra candles...truth be know we can make any candle any color or no color at all...just ask us.

Twas the night before the start of the school year!
Frantically I search for all those things I put away for the new school year....it;s not my fault really... you see summer just went so fast this year.
Our store surpassed the 250 sale mark.... Thank you to everyone that has shopped with us, passed our name along, or just read this blog...we love you all!
So at the end of a summer I have an almost 5 yr old boy who is reading, writing, and developing into a young man slowly but surely.
I know alot of you are in this great time of the year too so to all the parents CONGRATS!!!! we made it another summer unharmed!

A very good mail call indeed!
some sellers get it so right!!!!! As still wait for some orders I ordered 4-6 weeks ago....(shakes head) I thought i'd share with you my delightful mail call today....it was a great way to end a weekend.

I got a big pink and purple polkadot tube from the pixel prince.....I rarely even get gifts wrapped so nice! What a lovely suprise. I love buttons...pinback buttons...a quick quip of one's personality on a tiny button. I bought to many to post here but here's a few including a button made to a keychain. The Petite Package
Ok I have a serious thing for packaging supplies, glassine bags, tags and all of the sort. If you've ever shopped with me there is no doubt that you have noticed this. So when The petite package offered up an amazing deal I could'nt resist! I ended up asking for a custom listing that included some great stickers. a lovely package of supplies and it came fast, beautifully branded and I adore it. Seller was amazing in setting stuff up for me,,,double checking an error I made. I will no doubt be a customer of this store.

I honestly wish I had more to share with you but I just don't. I am guessing that most people are torn between their stores and back to school. I know I have fallen slightly behind myself.. Proven Vacation
it's been so lovely but odd to be taking so much time off. I keep remembering how this very day will never repeat itself. My son "the boy" is almost 5....and God willing he'll make it! It's so weird, bizzare and incrediably rewarding at this age. The stuff he says blows me away. He reads me stories, combs my hair and does'nt care how mushy he is with me in public. I miss the smaller boy that fell asleep on my chest....but I love the one that says "were necking" when daddy asks him about our kissy wrestling fights.... so here's my boy at 4 yrs old....

MAIL BAG - and EARLY haha I suprise myself sometimes!
Yep.....the CNE is in town....that means the end of the summer. It's 11 days until back to school..I lucked out and had a boy who hit that grows really slow stage this year so he needed nothing for school.....however that does'nt mean I did''nt but him stuff anyways!
I got some labels like these.... Honestly I do like the product but it took awhile to get proofs, and than tok longer to arrive. But the labels are fun, vibrant and very sticky. These were purchased at The Lollipop Label Shop

We ran across The Fyber Stud thru Heartsy. A man crochet artist that is funny, patient, actually cares about what he sells, has amazing attention to detail and a shop worth spending a bit more for a great item. I read theu and just fell in love with this thinner crochet mat.

So I am starting to put things away for birthdays and christmas (7 birthdays from sept-jan plus christmas)
Jodiscraftemporium is truly one of my best shopping times ever. Anytime I ever shop here it's simple, and everything from transaction to product is perfect! I purchased this set for my mom
4 simple crocheted clothes for her kitchen. She has a romantic dreamy kitchen, and I know these will go beautifully. My mom is stating the value of shopping handmade. Tulips treasures is a canadian seller. I found tulip thru bnr's and also heartsy. I found her shop FULL of great stuff. A mix of accessories, skin care and more I was delighted to find this Shea Lavender butter.
It is so simple in it's make up but glorious in it's smooth creamy perfection. It literally melts into your skin but the scent lingers forever it's amazing. I've been using it as after care for my new tattoos also and it's PERFECT! I aalso picked up some great hair clips and a cute pewter nest ring at this store too. Piixwixcandleco is a shop I ran into thru BNR's on Etsy. I am a sucker for solid perfume...so when I found out I could buy 3 and get one free I was ready!!!! I picked wild cherry vanilla, lavender lemon, and nag champra patchoulli. As my free one she did a custom nag champra. they arrived fast....really fast. In adorable metal slide tins they are the perfect size. They are highly fragrant but when applied they are not over powering at all.

Great way to end the week!
So a few weeks ago I got this message on etsy with a 3 item sale to please add a card to this order and send it off. I had'nt thought much about it until I got this adorable message

Another week another mail bag call!

I have come up with the best detox bath ever only 3 ingerdients essential oil 100% pure and blended (orange,grapefruit,lavender,black pepper but not in that order) Dead sea salt and french green clay....mmmmmmmmm it's so nice. and after you feel all sleepy, not just because of the lavender but the green clay draws so much out of your body in the way of impurities.

I have just been working on new things......i've added about 10-12 new items to the store. I came across this old box of vintage beads and have begun using them. i've starting making some small minimalist necklaces that make amazing stacking necklaces, some nice rings, and more candles including a 1/2 cube in lemongrass.
I'm still waiting for stuff I ordered in the beginning of june. Almost anything I buy I will alyaws review and share here.
So far I got
amazing pampering goodness from princessbuttercupsoy I got these cocoa butter bath melts...DIVINE!! actually i did'nt use them myself. The boy is outside so much he gets dry skin all summer so I ran a bath and dropped one in...I do think pampering him is something he appreciates...he knows it's a wee something extra...and he felt like VELVET....I kept rubbing his arm and he had this glow not a greasy shime but just a glow that was amazing....HOWEVER today he is covered in dirt and rain barrel water YUM. I had ordered some vintage tags and earrings from Oldsoulstyle on etsy...she's neat...great paper goods and I remember having this deck of these cards when I was a kid so I had to get them. I will say I am kinda known at my son's school for the kid with cool tops.....this one fit right in. he wore it to his graduation and EVERYBODY commented about it.

yuck SICK
sorry for the delay in posting.......I have pnemonia...... yep in the summer. IT sucks! I am hopeful that I can ship the mass of packages on tuesday this week! ARGH what a week....
It's hard to relax and get better with an adhd autistic 4.5 yr old boy who this week so far has been a dinosaur, boat, bowler (with vases of my grandmothers) and a train...it's loud and hectic, i've had a headache LITERALLY for a week.
I've worked on nothing new store wise, HECK, I've barely made dinner all week,,,,,, but I guess this is all the downtime i'll be getting!

Be careful what you wish for when it comes to heartsy
So I finally made it to heartsy whoopie
having tried so hard to get featured, I realize what a waste of time it was... One person at heartsy would tell me one thing while someone else told me another... Than I was told that a certain amount of vip vouchers are issued,,which is a total lie you see they don't set aside anything. they ASSUME it's 20-30% in my case try 27 out of 36 sold were vip's///Our heartsy feature ended up COSTING me over 50$... not to mention stocking up on supplies for packaging, extra items made, worying about keeping up and so on...
I'm thrilled that some customers got some great deals and I got to clear out my store, but at what cost. At the end of it all I think I had 3 people spend more than their voucher.....many of the people who voted and encouraged me did'nt shop with me (which is fine too i'm just sayin)
But the lowest of the low is how some stores (perhaps thru no fault of their own) seem to get multi day extensions, or giveaway promos on their pages that help them sell out with no rhyme or reason, while others don't even hear about it. Being pressured into vip stuff with the line of "well let's try it this way and see what happens"- because of course the better the vip deal the more sign up's they get at my cost....MANY times thru the day I asked for help and all day I was told well, lets see what happens thruout the day and guess what it's 930pm and nobody has done SQUAT. I was offered 4$ per vip voucher to offset the money I lost but considering I only wanted to do an extra 5$ for vip's ...well we know what i;m getting at. What blew my mind was the lies about the amount of vouchers "set aside" for vip's, that there is no such thing....they just assume a percentage,,,,and then a situation like mine comes up and "oh I guess we were wrong"
The whole situation has rubbed me the wrong way. I was invited to resubmit, but considering all of this not only don't I want to submit again, Id rather forget heartsy all together. I would hate to think there may be other sellers in the same shoes...i'd rather pay full price and let a seller not feel lied to, degraded, and lose their creative spirit. I almost considered closing my store....wondering if the problem was me....
I am so glad I met new people, got to get rid of alot, but I am very suprised at what being a heartsy feature REALLY meant.... But I guess I don't believe in rising to the top on the backs of others...
Heartsy serves a purpose....But it is NOTHING like what it appears....it is simply another walmart or costco.....corporate greed has now found it's way into the handmade world....the one nice pure thing left.....

HURRY UP and WAIT!!!
Seems about right.....
So this is a big update....i'll wait while you get comfy lol
Hubby tried to quit smoking a few weeks ago.....This week that is over awwwwwwww poor guy. He has smoked since forever like 30-35 yrs. I feel bad for him. He never smokes in our home, and not often when at home with us, but he's a pretty cool guy and I like having him around, perhaps this will be revisited.
The boy is a whirlwind right now. I would like any name other than mom (yes I know soon will come a day I will miss it but NOT today) "mom that's not a dump truck it's an articulated dumper" (which I learned from a 4 yr old that it means it's wheels go up and down like our george forman grill hinge)
"mom that's not the middle of the flower, it's the stamen where the bee gets nectar to make honey in his hive" DAMMIT!!!! He's getting smart to fast.......yeah, I'm worried, What do I do when he explains things to me, and I nod and smile pretending I already knew that!
Me and the boy is doing great. We have had a few blog reviews, a few new ad spots, and our heartsy feature tuesday the 14th....We're taking is more seriously. I ran a very successful business online thru ebay before this, but sadly it was never a great fit. I'm in a very good place right now, we all are.
Our camper opened...I try to get away when I can, but it's kind of a "mens camper". I get thru the weekend and tell hubby how great of time i'm having. After all he looks cute poking the fire with a huge stick of bamboo....he bbq's so at least I don't have to cook.
Life is full, quiet, fun....I can't wait to see what's coming. Kind of a personal blog, i'm getting used to this blog thing now, and figure it's time to get to know each other a bit

AND the results are in
If you were reading previous posts than you would know that Ellen from Confessions of an overworked mom blog contacted us about doing a product review....well the results are in! And I think we did well. Ellen MUST be an overworked mom....she's an amazing blogger and seems to always be upto something online. It was nice to give her a chance to relax. Just an idea of who runs things
on the advice of a follower I thought I would ad a pic of Me and the boy

yay monday...I love mondays...it means the mail comes. Even during the Mail strike I am still getting stuff,,,
Today I got my heartsy deals I bought a few weeks ago from http://www.etsy.com/shop/tesorojewelry I got my four keychains today (she had an awesome 3/27$ deal) than I bought a round one. they are so perfect. oftem I see similar items from other sellers with up and down letters and scratches. THESE ARE GLORIOUS!!! perfect and I love them. Seller is so easy to deal with and made sure I had these before school ended (2 are teachers gifts)
Than I found this amazing purse/handbag maker http://www.etsy.com/people/siouxjee her work is amazing.... not a master seamstress, but well on the rise her eye for detail is stellar and her sense of style is amazing.. I purchased http://www.etsy.com/transaction/50259186 it's amazing.... The dark burnt-ish orange liner is a perfect match.. I know i'll be shopping here again soon (much to my closets dismay).
So that's this Monday in my mail
On another note many of you are asking why am I doing notecards for 1$. It's simple I got alot of paper sitting around.....cardstock, scrapbook paper and MORE... Rather than throw it out i'd rather stamp it and sell 4/1$. seems silly when you pay a 20 cent etsy fee to list, plus a percentage to etsy and paypal so it works out to 60-67 cents BUT it also allows me to offer something small to perhaps go with an existing purchase, meet new customers, offer something for EVERYONE and also helps build my feedback which is worth WAY WAY more than 67 cents. My feedback is my lifeline I think. When someone is deciding weather to buy from me my feedback says things like......Well made, Well constructed, fast shipping.... these are great comments I can't fake and it also gives me alot to live up to, and it pleases me to no end that people notice the work I put into pieces....so is 1$ a waste.....I prefer to see it as a great investment. And besides it really does'nt take alot top stamp and cut the top of a piece of paper. We also refund excess shipping over 1$ so people know we save them as much as we can. check out these lil beauties

Not all are great but some really stand out! AND heartsy gets deals sometimes upto 60-65% off.
My first try was Anderson Soap company http://www.etsy.com/shop/dennisanderson He makes the most beautiful room sprays I have ever smelled with only 3 ingredients, BUT his black charcoal soap is the reason my face is so clean and clear this year..... Other notable products are Raven room spray (kind of like nag champra but brighter) Lemongrass room spray, and his wilderness soap YUMMY
Flowering tree botanicals is a great store with great customer service and getting big sizes of something you adore (like their nag champra body lotion) is never a hassle..... http://www.etsy.com/shop/layla There scents are more natural than alot of the heavily commercial scents... There bath salts in lavender are HEAVEN! Definatley worth a try....or two
Mountain creek soaps is a lovely little shop with great lavender bath teas....Drop this cheesecloth bag full of dried lavender teabag in a hot bath and lay back and relax.....I also scored a lovely ball pint mason jar for one of the best prices ever http://www.etsy.com/shop/mountaincreekgift
Quintescentials Provides VERY fast shipping and lots of items to keep you squeaky clean...I have fallen in love with their solid perfumes....lavender vanilla smells better than alot of perfume I own, it's small size means I can take it anywhere!!!

What's in a name.... An amazing artist, and all around cool designer
Grain......what kind of name is grain.... or so I thought...there's no more alchemy on etsy however there are many groups for custom.... I put the word out that I needed a new blog button. Along comes many offers. I zero in on the one Canadian......the store name is GRAIN hmmmm
we spoke, agreed and within literally hours I had a beautiful 125x125 blog button for a measly 8$ It was'nt what I had thought of having made but I loved it.... It really hard to describe my store...part jewelry store, part paper crafts, and now part bath products and spa candles.... How do you put all that into a 125x125 button.....

on craftcult.com you can find alot of useful tools...Although i've never had great success with their customer service or ad people I would still always reccomend any etsy seller to check out this time saving site. Today I explored the treasury widget part. you simply enter some basic info and create cute widgets.
there were 58 treasuries we were in so we thought it was a bit much to post them all.
Tonight I will post something better and also I want to give some credit to some awesome stores as well

BUSY DAY
WOW it;s a busy day online today!!!!
Etsy is flooded with Memoral day sales

Zoe and Bruno Sale Items I have personally shopped with this store..their customar service is as stellar as their bead selections
Cape Gift Shop 40% off
Symbolic Imports 30 % off I have used these salts, SI items are so much more natural smelling than alot of available items....They don't skimp either. There salts are'nt "dry| when you get them. I leave the lid off mine in my bathroon to scent everything.
I have had a nice relaxing day alone again....Done the wife/mom things. Stamped my heart out last night and have the new etsy store listings to prove it
I FINALLY busted out my clays and began making candle holders again....this has been a longtime issue...I have brutal carpal tunnel (thanks old starbucks machines and my barrista days) But I gave it a try...I wanted to do something less planned more free form and flowy.....and I think it turned out great! Just drop a tealight candle (included of course) in and ta da!

Than some insane Almost need sun glasses embossed owl cardstock notes.

Not only that. I was just talking to a very lovely woman named Ellen. She owns the blog confessionsofanover-workedmom.com.
She let me know she was having a handmade event from June 6-12. And GUESS who she wants to do a product review for..... YEPPERS Our Nag Champra bath salts And Lavander tealights will be put to the ultimate test! She has over 2400 followers and over 2300 subscribers....This is a big test and our first blog review request....We ARE upto the challenge.
In our chat I had asked why she picked us to review....she informed me it was because of the amount od different crafts we do.... I found it odd. It's no suprise I'm like the TEXTBOOK adhd mom...naturally I can't focus on one thing (except for my nasty habit of writting 1 sentence paragraphs with bad grammar and poor punctuation) I always thought it showed my inconsistency, inability to remain on task at one thing.....could these one time "flaws" be helping me...WOW!!!
SO!!!! I am not sure if ellen will get her suprise pack in time but I'm feeling really good about today......

for months I have waited for this day....the day that hubby takes the boy to the camper and I'm alone......so once the crying fit ended I was free to roam our new house and do ANYTHING unseen, unheard by anyone. I gathered my soy wax, double boiler, essential oils, moulds and went into candle frenzy......melting pots of wax, ahhh it was glorious. The smell of relaxing lavander, purple dye melting in swirls, and pouring just the perfect candles......It was HEAVEN!!!! HOWEVER I know lavander is relaxing BUT Once all the candles were done, I took a 3 hours nap at noon.....so be warned WE MAKE GOOD CANDLES.
It was a great day....the boy was ready at 5:15 am in his rain boots and frog rain coat to go up north.......his parents were not!
I was so excited to be alone.....but now that I have crossed candle party and uninturepted nap off the list i'm bored.....I have new beads, new paper for cards...but I am perfectly happy laying on the dogs blanket, cuddling my huge furry child......(you hav'nt met my dog...he's like a 70 lb minky blanket) ahhhh I think we'll just stay in...It;s perfect right here....
Today I know how blessed I am.
